About Juniper Handyman Estimator

Juniper Handyman Estimator is a free home improvement cost estimator built and run by Juniper Handyman. It exists because the honest answer to "what will this cost?" is usually a range with reasons attached, and most tools online give you a single number with none.

How the cost model works

The estimator covers 16 trade categories. Each carries a per-unit material rate at three quality tiers, a consumables rate, typical labor hours per unit, and a trade hourly rate. Your inputs are multiplied through those rates, a 10% contingency is added, and the result is shown as a range rather than a false-precision figure.

The cost guides on this site read their tables from that same dataset. That is deliberate: an article can never quote a price the calculator disagrees with, because both are computed from one source.

What we do not do

• We do not sell leads, and we do not pass your project details to contractors.
• We do not require an account. Your estimates stay in your browser.
• We do not publish fabricated review scores or invented industry statistics.

How this is funded

The site is free and supported by advertising. Ads are labelled and kept out of the way of the tool itself. We do not take payment to rank a material, brand or contractor more favourably, and there is no affiliate monetisation on the cost guides.

Corrections

If a rate looks wrong for your market, or a guide contains an error, tell us and we will look at it. Accuracy complaints are the most useful mail we get. Reach us via the contact page.
